The Process
To create a natural edged bowl, there are many steps. Click on a photo for a larger image.

It starts with a tree stump
A chainsaw is used to get a
section that will become the bowl
A circle is drawn as a
guide for the bowl
A chainsaw is used
to form a blank
The blank is placed on a lathe to begin the
shaping of the bowl
Preliminary cuts are
made to start the rounding
A lot of shavings are
created!
A tenon is made to
hold the blank
The bowl is starting
to take shape!
Bowl is mounted in
chuck to turn inside
Rough inside done
ready to remove stub
Rough turned bowl and shavings are put in
a paper bag for drying
Time to clean up
the shop for now
