Michael “Mike” Raby is from Southern New Hampshire and has been making wood items in his shop for decades. I have an appreciation for the natural development and beauty of trees and strive to preserve the original nature of each piece. Moving to Florida in 2001 I got the opportunity to work with some new species. Recently, I was travelling from my home and shop in Southern Florida when I was struck by the number of trees damaged by Hurricane Sandy. I remembered riding through Missouri on my Harley in 2005 and seeing the results of tornadoes and thinking that many of those trees were planted by families to create a memory of a person, place or event. Losing the tree did not have to mean the loss of the memory. I have hand-crafted wood ranging from small items like candle holders and mirrors to complete houses from the ground up. Now doing mostly renovations, I enjoy taking time in my shop to work on artistic projects like those contained on the gallery page. Wooden items that memorialize special events like the birth or passing of a family member are typical projects that I have completed. I also am a musician, dog trainer, firearms instructor, Vietnam Era Veteran, cancer survivor and always enjoy a good joke. Joined by my wife Dianne, we serve our community as Stephen Ministers and specialize in work with prisoners and people in recovery.
